Have you ever thought of getting yourself into the media industry and showing off your creativity, but you just don’t know how to go about it? Or have you ever thought about changing the shit you see on the TV or hear on the radio?
There are so many opportunities out there for us even if we have to create our own. Pursuing a career in the media industry is not always easy, it takes determination and hard work to get to your desired destination in this competitive and highly desired field.
There are countless roles in which you can choose from when it comes to this industry, you can involve yourself in Radio, television, acting and news casting. You can also become a film director or create documentaries to bring awareness and awaken the audience – you can even be part of controlling social media on an international scale where you blog and tweet and write for a Magazine. The list goes on.
Like Malcolm X said as quoted
“The media is the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that’s power. Because they control the minds of the masses.”
So, if you have ever contemplated pursuing a career in the media industry, the power is yours. We should use it to voice our thoughts and sentiments, showcase our creativity in order to make an impact. The first step to take in chasing this dream is to do a lot of research! Go to university to study a media based course if you feel that you want to gain more knowledge and awareness in the field and build connections with people with the same creative mine as yourself.
Although, there are connections available outside of university, it’s always a good idea to have a plan to get to where you want to get to. This could involve gaining work experience, attending networking events where you can meet people that are already in or aspire to be in the industry – Opportunities are everywhere and could be right under your nose, you just need to be proactive so you don’t miss out on them. If you feel that you have the knowledge, the right attitude as well as the right connections then why not start your own media company? This is a great way to implement your originality without being limited by a “boss” as well as inspiring others.
